An American man might have to face the doors of jail in Thailand for posting a bad review of a hotel in Thailand. Well, most of the time, people do post critical comments or could say honest reviews of the places they visit but this hotel didn’t make it right and a man could be jailed for being critical of the hotel.
Wesley Barnes is the person who traveled to Thailand and according to reports, he posted negative reviews of Sea View Resort in multiple travel advisory sites and that is why the resort has completely planned to sue the person.
A screenshot of the review made by Barnes was obtained from Twitter which read, “The staff was not friendly. Nobody could smile. The restaurant manager was very rude and full of himself. He is from the Czech Republic. There are other hotels with better-friendlier staff. Avoid this place as if it was the coronavirus!”
The review was posted first on Tripadvisor and one of the media houses obtained its statement as well. The spokesperson of Tripadvisor said that they’re investigating and looking into the complete matter. “Tripadvisor is opposed to the idea that a traveler can be prosecuted for expressing opinions. Thankfully, on a global basis, prosecutions like this are rare and hundreds of millions of travelers are able to express themselves freely without facing criminal charges. Tripadvisor was created on the premise that consumers have the right to write about their first hand traveling or dining experiences – good or bad – as those reviews are one of the most powerful ways to enable others to find all that is good out there in this world. Travelers benefit from the transparency of hundreds of millions of candid reviews provided on our platform. Similarly, the platform allows hoteliers and other travel-related businesses to reply to criticism and engage travelers in what we hope are meaningful and positive dialogues,” a spokesperson for Tripadvisor said.
